Welcome to my little Parisian kitchen!

As they say, the kitchen is the heart of the home and I absolutely agree. That's why I consider myself lucky when it comes to my little Parisian apartment, because it comes with a lovely kitchen that certainly is the heart of this home.

Welcome to my kitchen! Fancy a cup of tea?

Starting with these beautiful vintage French doors, the entrance of the kitchen. They add so much character to my apartment and delicately separate the kitchen from the living room in the most charming way.

Thanks to the glass panels it feels almost like an open-plan kitchen but I can still close the doors to separate one room from another and believe me, when you live in a small place, that comes in very handy!

I always get so many nice comments about my vintage chippy turquoise cabinet. I bought it in a vintage market in Paris a few years ago and it was love at first sight! One of those finds you just can't pass on. It really is a statement piece in my kitchen.

The color is one of the first things that catches your eyes. A light shade of turquoise, the paint has chipped and faded perfectly through the years and all the small imperfections make this a unique and wonderful piece.

I get a lot of use out of it too! A very functional beauty this is. I storage napkins and other bits and pieces inside.

It was part of a set of cabinets from and old French country kitchen and I sometimes wonder where the rest of that beautiful set of turquoise cabinets went? Hopefully to another loving shabby home...

Open shelves are a great idea for organising and displaying your plates and kitchen stuff in a charming way. I'm always changing the way my shelves look depending on what new addition to my slight obsession with China I bring home. These shelves are always fun to play around with!

As you can see I like a rather soft color palette, some darker accents here and there (like the gold bird cage hanging on the wall in the next picture) to add some contrast, but I mainly stay true to my pastels and whites. Soft colors really get me in a peaceful and relaxing mood and I enjoy that feeling pretty much everyday of my life.

As I was visiting Rachel Ashwell's NYC store in December I came across these gorgeous curtains. Even though I tried very hard to pick just one pattern I couldn't choose between the two and ended up buying them both. I'm loving the result of having two different pattern curtains in the kitchen. That must be my wild side! lol

These beautiful huge windows are the reason why this is certainly the brightest room in the house. And also the fact that they're pointing east. This means I get to enjoy the first rays of sunshine every morning as i'm making my first cup of coffee, what a privilege!

I hope you enjoyed this tour around my little Parisian kitchen and that in some ways inspired you.

No matter how small your home is, beautiful living is a state of mind and we can all achieve it.

Until the next post my dear friends.

Adriana.

  1. I've been a single parent for a long time. It reminds me of being a waitress. As you walk back to the kitchen, requests come at you from all sides. You're doing the job of two - you have to be highly organised.
